1. What you are buying

A terrace cover is weather protection: it closes the terrace against wind, rain, dust and cold, and extends the months it can be used.

• It is not glazing and not an insulated structure. It does not replace a window or door.
• It is not load-bearing. Do not lean on the cover or the film, and do not load them.
• It is a wall, not a roof. Snow does not settle on an upright surface, but if a quantity does end up against it - sliding off the roof above, say - it is not built to carry that load.
• It protects against ordinary weather — wind, rain, snow, cold — and stays in place through a storm: that is what it is for. Extreme weather loads any tensioned surface, though: hurricane-force wind, hail or a branch coming down can damage the cover and the structure alike. Such damage is not a manufacturing fault.

2. Natural properties of the clear film

The following follow from the physics of the material, occur with every maker, and are not faults.

• Film expands and contracts with temperature considerably more than the tarpaulin welded to it. In the cold it tightens and may draw in; in the heat it slackens and may wave. The movement reverses as the temperature changes.
• The larger a pane, the greater this movement. A large continuous surface looks better and works harder.
• Slight waviness and optical distortion are characteristic of film. Clarity is not glass quality, and reflections vary with the angle of the light.
• When it is warmer inside than out, condensation forms on the inner face of the film. This is physics, not a leak.
• A cover shipped folded arrives with fold marks. They settle within a few days in warm weather once fitted; in cold weather it takes longer.
• The material is UV stabilised but not everlasting. Over years the film may discolour or cloud slightly and the fabric colour may fade. This is normal wear.

3. Handling — please note

Damage resulting from not following the below is not covered, because it does not arise from a manufacturing fault.

• Below +5 °C the film stiffens. Do not roll it up then, and above all do not fold it — cold film can crease permanently or crack along the fold.
• Never roll it up wet or dirty. Trapped moisture stains, and trapped grit scores the surface of the film.
• Clean only with lukewarm water and a soft cloth or sponge. No solvents, no alcohol- or ammonia-based glass cleaner, no scouring agent, no brush and no pressure washer — these scratch or cloud the film permanently.
• Store it rolled, never folded.

4. Sizes and measuring

• Sizes are given by the customer. The product is made to measure, so their accuracy is fundamental.
• Before production we review the sizes against the photos you upload and contact you if anything looks wrong. That is a check, not a site survey.
• If the size actually needed differs from the one given, the resulting alteration or remake is not a warranty matter.
• Measure to the outer face of a corner post and to the centre of an intermediate one; what is measured is the finished size. On an intermediate post of 8 cm or more both welded edges fit side by side, so the covers do not overlap and each fixes separately with its own turn-button strap and tab. Below 8 cm they lap over each other and close onto a shared turn button in the middle.

5. The structure

• Fixing requires a timber or metal structure in sound condition and of adequate strength. Judging the structure and carrying out the fixing are the customer's responsibility.
• We accept no liability for damage arising from the structure or its fixing points giving way, or from incorrect installation.
• We provide video instructions for fitting, and are glad to help with questions.

6. Withdrawal and warranty

• The product is made individually to sizes given by the customer. For such goods consumers have no 14-day right of withdrawal without reason.
• Statutory warranty applies as normal: it covers manufacturing faults, defective welds, and missing or faulty hardware.
• It does not cover the natural material properties in section 2, handling faults under section 3, mechanical damage, storm damage, or use other than as intended.
• If something is wrong, please tell us soon after noticing it, with a photograph where possible.
